This page directs Orleans Parish questions to the government office that can answer them. The website is privately operated, not a government office, and cannot confirm custody or release, retrieve an official record, change a booking entry, accept legal papers, or reach a person in jail.

Do not send custody emergencies, records demands, bond payments, or legal filings to this site. Contact the responsible public office directly.

Where to Send Your Question

Use the office that controls the record or custody system involved:

  • Current parish custody or booking: Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, Orleans Justice Center, 2800 Perdido Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. The current prison and custody number is 504-202-9339. The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association directory lists administration at 504-202-9445. Confirm instructions before mailing because older forms show another address.
  • Police report or NOPD event: New Orleans Police Department Records and Identification Division, 1615 Poydras Street, Fifth Floor, New Orleans, LA 70112. Records: 504-658-5455. Non-emergency police assistance: 504-821-2222. Public hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., with closing at 3:00 p.m.
  • Criminal court case or disposition: Orleans Parish Criminal District Court and Clerk of Court, 2700 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119. The clerk’s published phone is 504-658-9000.
  • State custody or supervision: Use Louisiana DPS&C inmate information and LA VINE. The state locator phone is 225-383-4580 and works best with a name and date of birth or DPS&C number.
  • Federal or immigration custody: Use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Those systems are separate from OPSO.

Call 911 for an emergency. For a specific official record, use the relevant agency’s public-record request portal and identify the person, date, item or booking number, and exact document sought. This site cannot submit or track that request for you.
